ABHYANGA MASSAGE

The Great Ayurvedic Oiling is especially aligned with the individual Prakriti. The use of massage oil is based on therapeutic methods and has proven itself over hundreds of years. The substances contained in the oil are absorbed by the skin during the massage. That way the Abhyanga massage not only eases pain but also contributes to physical and mental relaxation.

PADA ABHYANGA

The legs are massaged from the knees down to the feet using warm ghee (pure butter-fat) and special techniques that are only applied in this massage. The Pada Abhyanga helps with rough, dry and tired feet. At the same time, the reflex zones of the feet are stimulated, with the result that the massage has a soothing and relaxing effect. It also revitalises the inner organs.

SHIRO ABHYANGA

This massage is undertaken seated so that the head and the back are stimulated in the best way possible from all sides. It increases the blood circulation of the scalp and the neck. In this way, it relieves tension and stimulates muscles and nerves within the head. This can help to relieve headaches among other things.

SPORTS MASSAGE

Alongside traditional hand techniques, the Sports Massage uses special hand techniques adapted to the athlete's needs. The Sports Massage stimulates the body's metabolic processes and relaxes the muscular system. It has a stimulating effect on the body and helps support full recovery of an athlete's true ability.

DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE

Massaging the deep tissue is an effective way to relax lumps and chronic tensions within the muscles. By applying pressure, the therapist can reach the deeper layers of the muscular system. Hand in hand and with a slow beating of the tense muscles it leads to a relaxation of the muscles, bringing lasting relief. In this way, the body's muscular balance is restored.

THE TRADITIONAL MASSAGE

The Traditional Massage is probably the body therapy which is most popularly applied. Using traditional massage techniques such as stroking, kneading, pummeling, rubbing and vibrational movement, the body's metabolic processes are stimulated. The traditional massage can be applied to the entire body but also to individual parts of the body. As with other massage types, this massage can be adjusted to individual needs.

TUI NA- BACK/LEG MASSAGE

The origins of the Tui Na Massage have been known for over 1,500 years in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). By stroking, rubbing and pushing ("tui") as well as grabbing, pinching and plucking ("na"), blockages of energy channels can be released. Joints and muscles are mobilised. Yin and Yang are brought back together into balance. The massage is especially effective in dealing with acute pain in the musculoskeletal system and with migraines. It is also applied when suffering from sleeping disorders, digestive problems or asthma.

KUNDALINI BACK MASSAGE

This special spine massage is performed with special herbal oils. It has a relaxing, pain-relieving and de-stressing effect. The intensive back treatment stimulates the discs within the back, while the pelvis, the entire spine, shoulders and neck are made relaxed.

THAI FOOT MASSAGE

In contrast to Padabhyanga, the Thai Foot Massage focuses on the reflex zones of the feet. Depending on the acupressure point, the corresponding organs are supplied with stronger bloodflow and stimulated. Disharmonies are balanced and the body's self-healing process is awakened.

'The Science of Life'

Ayurveda, otherwise known as 'The Science of Life', is a system of traditional medicine which first arose in Asia more than 2,000 years ago. In the first century AD, three scholars, Caraka, Susruta and Vagbhata, began to collect the medical knowledge of their times. Their writings have been added to and modernised continually since those times. The insights of Ayurveda still remain the basis of the health system in South West Asia today.

"The Concept of Wholeness"

The end goal of Ayurveda is a healthy, balanced human being who is in harmony with himself and with his world. The five elements, Fire, Water, Earth, Air and Ether, as well as the three Doshas (or energies), Pitha, Kapha and Vata, are in balance with each other. If this equilibrium is unbalanced, the inner healing processes of the individual will be disturbed.

The unique Prakriti of each person (the body's constitution) is determined at birth, resulting from the interaction of these three energies with one other. For most of the people, Prakriti is a combination of these powers. Vata ('to move oneself'), functions as a regulator of all sequences of movement inside the body. Pitta ('to heat') controls all biological-chemical digestive and metabolic processes running in the body. Kapha symbolises body fluids and the structure of the skeleton.

VATHA

The Dosha Vatha is connected with the elements of air and ether. It symbolises motion and language. The symbol of Vata is the gazelle: it loves warmth and has quick and keen powers of perception, but it also tends towards nervousness.
close

PITHA

The Dosha Pitha is connected to the elements of water and fire. It represents the body's energy – both the metabolism and the psyche. The symbol of Pitta is the tiger: dynamic but impatient, and quick to anger.

KAPHA

The Dosha Kapha is connected to the elements of water and earth. It stands for stability, stamina and power. Inside the body it represents the bones, nails and teeth. The symbol of Kapha is the elephant: it is unfailingly calm and possesses a good memory.

AYURVEDIC OIL AND TEA

The basis of every Ayurvedic massage is the use of Thaila, a form of sesame seed oil. Its advantages were already described by the great ayurvedic master Vagbhata in the sixth century AD. It enters the tissue deeply and spreads easily within the whole body. For the massages I offer, I refer back to the inherited knowledge of my own family. I use unique oil formulas which have been passed down from generation to generation for over 200 years.

The same applies to the tea I use. It serves as inner supplement to the outer massage treatments. Its compilation follows the constitution of the Doshas and its herb mixtures are aligned in accordance with them.
